Papa Bue's Viking Jazzband and Bjarne Liller: Jazz Party
The Viking Jazzband was formed in 1956 by Danish trombonist Arne "Papa Bue” Jensen . The band became associated with the Dixieland Jazz revival, at a time when many musicians were working in the new Bebop style. Bjarne Liller started off as the band’s Banjo player and vocalist, and went on to enjoy a successful solo career. They reunited to produce the 1977 LP, Jazz Party , which contains 28 classic Jazz songs as well as some unique Danish melodies. With 33 tracks in total, this CD comes with a nostalgic Dixieland feel, but an unmistakeable Viking edge.
