Teddy Wilson: Alone

Teddy Wilson (1912-1986) is widely regarded as having been the most important pianist of the swing era. A master of touch, taste and technique, he was above all a pianist of surpassing elegance – a quality which was also very much evident in his personality. In Alone , we hear a 1983 live solo set from a Danish nightclub. Wilson gives excellent performances of songs that he had played and loved for decades, finding something new and interesting in every one of them. His virtuosic improvisation is showcased by several medleys, and we obtain an insight to the great musician’s mind with his unrehearsed commentary.
